Jury duty, lawn duty

Got my first Richardson juror notice, and dutifully motored up there. 8 cases did not go to trial, and the other was a no-show. So we were immediately released.

Went back home and did some lawn work:
  • adjusted the reel mower
  • mowed the lawn
  • trimmed with trimmer.
  • raked up leaves from street; put in compost bin
  • raked up that tree snot stuff that looks like sphagnum moss, put in compost bin
That's all. Gonna take a shower now.

Fence repair

At some point our wooden fence will need to replaced, probably with chainlink. For now we knocked out the rotted slats and replaced them with slats from Lowes.

It's not particularly pretty, but it's much sturdier and there is no danger of the dog busting out. Plus the COR aggressively issues code violations around here and I wanted to stay ahead of that.

Richardson to recycle Allied Waste?

Two interesting things in this article:

  1. current recycling level is about 25% of single-family dwellings.
  2. City of Richardson suspects they can save $$$ by picking up the blue bags themselves instead of outsourcing to Allied Waste
